But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled, but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you yet with gentleness and reverence; and keep a good conscience so that in the thing in which you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ will be put to shame.  1 Peter 3: 14-16

Crucifixion Resurrection Eucatastrophe

Written by

The concept of Eucatastrophe is an invention of J. R. R. Tolkien. It’s a hard word to write without making a spelling mistake. Try it! I like the concept. And I’m not alone. Though Tolkien was a Roman Catholic, many modern Reformed folk have paid homage to the idea of Eucatastrophe....

Pre-Trib Rapture Defense Offense (Part Three)

Written by

This is Part Three of my series: Pre-Trib Rapture Defense Offense. See Part One and Part Two. Pretribulationism is a lie! Last time I talked about bad old John Darby who caused havoc by inventing the pretrib rapture. The goes that Darby influenced Scofield, who wrote a contagious Study Bible. Thus...

The Names of God

Written by

Without Divine Revelation we can know nothing about God or His attributes. Yet God has revealed Himself to us through His Word. The various Names of God we find in Scripture are one way we can learn about His attributes. For example, Herman Bavinck writes: Holy Scripture not only describes...

I’m a good person. And so are you. You just have to find the love inside and set it free. Huffington Post featured a column by Christine Horner. It took the form of a letter to Pope Francis to end the religious ritual that devalues human life. I didn’t know the pope read Huff Post....

Size of the Cross

Written by

How big is the Cross to you? What is the size of the Cross to us? Well, it depends upon our awareness of our sins. Imagine a point on a blank page. Now imagine a line proceeding from that point out to infinity. In your mind place another line going out from that point at […]

This is Part Two of my series: Pre-Trib Rapture Defense Offense. That no-good John Darby… In the first installment of this series I mentioned prewrath in several places. I’m not just picking on the view. There are good reasons for engaging it. In my experience the prewrath camp has...

The End of Time

There’s a little book in our church book store called “Time and the End of Time.” The cover and the title have attracted my interest, and several times I’ve picked it up to take a look at it. It was written by John Fox in 1676 – not to be confused by the John Foxe...

On Idolizing Scripture

Pre-Trib Rapture Defense Offense

Written by

Many years ago I heard a wrestler say that the best defense was an offense. Well, I’m not so sure about that. Nevertheless, I want to provide some defense for the Pre-Trib rapture, and to some degree also go on the offense. There’s good reasoning for this… Some criticisms of...

Eustace Becomes a Dragon

Eustace Clarence Scrubb was a character from C. S. Lewis’ Narnian Chronicles. He was the Pevensie children’s rotten little cousin – the sort of kid one doesn’t like having around. He’s introduced to us at the start of The Voyage of the Dawn Treader where we find him...
