Be sure of your call to every business you go about. Though it is the least business, be sure of your call to it; then, whatever you meet with, you may quiet your heart with this: I know I am where God would have me. Nothing in the world will quiet the heart so much as this: when I meet with any cross, I know I am where God would have me, in my place and calling; I am about the work that God has set me.

We are purposed for God. Fashioned to glorify and exalt the Father, He continually fills us with the vast riches of His grace and mercy. In the desert of our journey home, He sustains us with Living Water. We are to rejoice in the ordinary, in the midst of our storms, and in the quiet moments of His presence. He has purposed all, for the love and good of His children and for the manifestation of His glory throughout history.

A life lived in Coram Deo is never without merit nor insignificant according to the purposes of God. Every irritation, every inconvenience, every trial, are a testament to the infinite grace and mercy of the Almighty manifested in our lives. By means of suffering He purifies our souls, washing and sanctifying us in His righteousness. The sting of death shouts to our sin, our misery of it the prologue of our sanctification. How sin ingrained causes us to cry out for the Great Physician! Only His Spirit can cut from us the malady of death, making whole our souls.

In our journey toward the long tomorrow, we must trudge the darkest valleys and the highest peaks. Shall we be weighed down with the burdens of sin, of doubt, of worry? Look to the Savior, and cast the worries of the world at His feet. Drink from the pool of His grace for it will sustain you as you make your way toward the Celestial City. Every affliction that comes upon you He has ordained. That He brings you into the way should calm your anxious spirit. For He has purposed it. For you. For the lives you touch. For the radiance of His glory.

Glory follows afflictions, not as the day follows the night but as the spring follows the winter; for the winter prepares the earth for the spring, so do afflictions sanctified prepare the soul for glory.

He has purposed me. He has set before me trials and tribulations, pain and suffering, joy and contentment. His signature is upon my life. Made by Him and for Him, I stand before Him in song, with hope in my Sovereign God. To trust Him fully in the shadows is to embrace Him in the sun. Our family has been fatigued with illness and loss, the depths of sin’s valleys have long tired my soul. Yet I look to Him because it is all I can do. I am weak. I am exhausted. I am burdened. Yet I am strong. I am refreshed. I am free. His grace is sufficient for me. All glory, honor, and praise are due Him. Thank you Lord, for my afflictions, for by them I love you more dearly.
